Tempered glass is created through a heat treatment that strengthens the base sheet, a process known as tempering. This intricate and highly specialized technique requires significant expertise and a deep understanding of the methods involved to achieve optimal results.
The tempering process begins with cutting the glass sheet to the desired dimensions, followed by drilling or countersinking any holes and smoothing the edges. Once the piece is prepared, it is placed on a roller table and moved into a furnace, where it is heated to 640°C. When the glass softens, it is rapidly cooled using jets of cold air. This quick cooling hardens the surface while keeping the center slightly warmer, creating compressive stress on the surface.
This process significantly enhances the strength of the glass, making it about six times more resistant to bending than standard float glass. During tempering, surface defects are effectively “locked in” by the compressive forces, while the interior remains more resistant to cracking. In the event of breakage, tempered glass shatters into small, non-sharp pieces, increasing overall safety.

We offer tailor-made tempered glass solutions for windows, railings, doors, and windows, guaranteeing strength, safety, and impeccable design.
Please note that not all glass can be tempered: glass with unusual shapes or holes close together may break during treatment. Our experts will guide you in choosing the most suitable material, ensuring optimal results without damage. Contact us to find out how we can create customized tempered glass for you!
